Know Your Rights

Pregnant and parenting students have certain rights under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. All colleges and universities receiving any Federal funding must comply with Title IX, including employing a Title IX Coordinator. View the websites below to learn more about your rights as a parenting or pregnant student. If you have questions about Title IX or feel your rights may have been violated, contact your college or university's Title IX Coordinator as soon as possible.

American Association of University Women

This site allows students to search for the Title IX Coordinator at their college or university and contains information regarding pregnant and parenting students rights.

American Civil Liberties Union

National Coalition for Women and Girls in Education

The National Coalition for Women and Girls in Education's website provides information on pregnant and parenting student rights and additional resources for students looking for support.

National Women's Law Center

This site contains fact sheets on pregnant and parenting student rights, as well as how to file a complaint with the U.S.Office of Civil Rights if you feel your Title IX rights have been violated.

The Pregnant Scholar

The Pregnant Scholar's website includes information on Title IX rights and frequently asked questions related to pregnant and parenting college students.

This site includes the official federal government listing of pregnant and parenting student rights.
